LumiQ's tracker, the tool professionals use to log and prove their continuing education credits, had grown into three disconnected experiences.

For users whose licenses depend on accurate, audit-ready records, the inconsistencies and gaps weren't just confusing, they were a trust problem. To create a more confident tracker, we rebuilt it into one coherent system: full field parity, clear visibility into reporting periods and consistent export options across every version of the product.

THE MISSING GAPS

Three Trackers Built in Silos

Most users weren't treating LumiQ as their single source of truth for compliance. Only 5% had ever added an external credit, and tracker confusion drove on average 3% of support tickets on a monthly basis.

The root cause: each regional tracker (CAN, US & UK) had been built independently over time, so the fields, filters, and export options varied by version. Reporting-period context like a 3-year rolling cycle, mandatory ethics hours and other important missing or unclear factors also contributed to user frustrations.

must-haves

Designing for Parity and Trust

To be the place users trusted with their compliance record, every version of the tracker needed to meet the same bar. We landed on 3 key improvements to make, informed by direct user feedback and existing usage patterns.

Field parity and consistent export feature

Every tracker should support both a detailed CSV report and a branded, audit-ready PDF export of all completed certificates.

Period-awareness

The CPD tracker should surface the user's current 3-year rolling cycle and mandatory ethics-hour requirement, with progress shown at a glance.

THE PROCESS

Structure & Flow

Taking a completely fresh approach to the design, we worked through the product must-haves in two stages: first wireframing how the core layout could hold field parity, period-awareness, and the external credit flow on both web and mobile, then prototyping the flows to map out how a user would actually move through them.

Wireframing for web & mobile

We also drew a clear line between what belongs on the at-a-glance tracker table (kept intentionally light) versus the full downloadable report, so the page stays scannable while the exported record stays complete.

THE RESULT

A Tracker Worth Trusting

The result is a tracker experience that feels consistent whether you're a US-based earner checking your CPE breakdown or a Canadian CPA tracking a 3-year rolling ethics requirement. Every field entered is now something you can see, filter, and export, plus small UI animations along the way turn a routine compliance check into a moment of delight.

Trust, Measured

Bringing every tracker to the same standard didn't just make it easier to use, it changed how much people trusted it enough to rely on.
